The material of the Cold shrinkable tube

At present, the cold shrinkable tube on the market is mostly made of silicone rubber and EPDM material. EPDM has the advantage of being "seen as a more durable rubber than silicone" (again citing organosilicone engineering). However, silicone is more flexible and can be formulated to have very strong tear resistance and elongation. In addition to being more flexible, silicone is also more resistant to oil. The main advantage of silicone cold shrink tube over EPDM is shrinkage rate.

For example, a 2:1 shrinkage means that the starting size of the product is 2 sizes larger than the size to which it was shrunk. Thermal shrinkage is a product where we've been talking about shrinkage because it starts at one size and shrinks to another once it's heated up to it. The same is true of cold shrinkage, which starts at one size and then shrinks to another, except Cold shrinkable tube doesn't require heat to shrink.

Silicone cold shrinkable tube shrinkage starts at 3.5:1 (3.5:1) and peaks at about 4.5:1 (4.5:1). EPDM, on the other hand, usually shrinks at around 2:1 and peaks at around 2.5:1. In other words, the cold shrinkage rate of our silicone is twice that of EPDM. This is a significant difference, especially when these materials are used as cold shrinkable tubes for coaxial cable weatherproofing, where shrinkable and watertight conditions are critical.

Epp cold shrinkable tube may not have the shrinkage rate or weather resistance of silicone cold shrinkage, but there are still more suitable applications than silicone cold shrinkage. For example, EPDM is very resistant to gasoline and is often used around fuel.

Epdm cold shrink tubes are also more resistant to wear and/or friction. Silicone is very strong, especially compared to thermal shrinkage, but EPDM is more resistant to direct contact. Silicone works well high up in the tower, where it is largely unaffected, but EPDMs are better suited to be installed inside machines that are more prone to wear or friction.
