Cold shrinkable termination kit installation points

The making of cable termination and cable straight through joint is an important part in cable installation engineering, which has great influence on the safe operation of cable in the future. The termination kit of the cold shrinkable cable accressories and the cold shrinkable straight through joint kit are vulcanized and molded by injection of elastomer materials (commonly used silicone rubber and ethylene propylene rubber) in the factory, and then expanded and lined with plastic spiral supports to form various cable accessories.

In field installation, these pre-expansion pieces are fitted at the end or joint of the treated cable, and the plastic spiral strip (support) of the internal support is drawn out and pressed onto the cable insulation to form a cable attachment. Because it relies on elastic retraction force at room temperature rather than fire heating contraction like heat shrinkable cable accessories, it is commonly known as cold shrinkable cable accessories.

The cold shrinkable cable accessories have the advantages of small size, easy operation, rapid, no special tools, wide application range and less product specifications. It is worth noting that before being installed on the cable, the components of the prefabricated cable attachment are without tension, and the cold shrink cable terminal is in a state of high tension, therefore, the product must be guaranteed during the storage period. The cold-shrink parts should not have obvious permanent deformation or elastic stress relaxation, otherwise, after installation on the cable, there is not enough elastic compression force to ensure good interface characteristics.
