Usage of Heat Shrinkable Tube and matters needing attention

2022-06-14
As we all know, heat shrinkable insulating sleeve, also known as heat shrinkable sleeve, heat shrinkable tube, etc., it is a kind of insulation cable sleeve with high temperature shrinkage, soft flame retardant, insulation and corrosion resistance. Heat shrinkable tube is composed of radiation polymerization, contraction tightly wrapped in the cable joint after heating, so as to achieve insulation, sealing and protection.  It is widely used for waterproof electronic equipment, sealing of cable branches, corrosion protection of metal pipes and prevention of loosening and shedding caused by loose polymer chains.

The use of heat shrink tubing looks very simple, small batch of heat shrinkable tube artificial shrinkage not be much of a problem, but in bulk shrinkage heat shrinkable tube, if it is mixed to shrink without rules, it may cause a lot of problems, greatly influence the production efficiency, increase the production cost, reduce the performance of the heat shrinkable tube insulation protection. Let's take a look at the instructions and precautions.

Usage of heat shrinkable tube:

1.Firstly, we need to know the diameter of the cable, or calculate the diameter corresponding to the length and width, and then select a heat shrinkable tube with a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the cable.

2.Remove burrs and sharp corners from cables to prevent cracking by puncturing heat shrinkable tubes during shrinkage. Oil and impurities in cable connections must be cleaned beforehand with a quick-drying cleaner and kept clean.

3.Calculate the length of the package to use the corresponding heat shrinkable tube length. When cutting the heat dissipating tube, the incision should be neat and smooth, without burr or crack, so as to avoid the stress concentration and diffusion along the crack generated during thermal contraction.

4.Place the heat shrinkable tube at one end of the cable and move the set heat shrinkable tube to the appropriate position. For bent cables, place heat shrinkable tubes on corners to prevent wrinkles.

5.The heating tool is usually a heat gun or spray gun. Heat the tube from left to right or right to left, or from the middle to both ends, to avoid residual air in the heat shrink tube. Do not heat the tube too close to the shell surface or in one place; otherwise, uneven thickness or burns the shell may occur.

Heat shrinkable tube Matters needing attention:

1.When heating, the heating tool should not be too close to the heat shrinkable tube. Note the distance between the fire and the heat shrinkable tube, that is, 45cm of uniform motion. When heating or shrinking, do not exceed the upper limit of the heat shrinkable tube. If the temperature exceeds the upper limit, "melting" of the product may occur.

2.Choose the right heating tool.  When heated, the outer flame is at a 45 degree Angle to the surface of the heat shrinkable tube.  Be sure to move back and forth from end to end to heat the shrinkable tube as a whole.  Heating should be uniform to avoid bubbles, ensure the shape of the heat shrinkable tube after shrinkage, and then repair after cooling.

3.Heat shrinkable tubes have different heat shrinkable rates. The specification of a heat shrinkable tube is usually the product of the maximum inner diameter allowed for casing shrinkage and the shrinkage rate. For example, a heat-shrinkable tube has a 2:1 shrinkage, which means you can use a heat-shrinkable tube twice the diameter of the product. For example, if the cable diameter is 20mm, we can choose a 25-40mm diameter heat shrinkable tube.

The above is the use of heat shrinkable tube and matters needing attention. Huayi cable accessories products can provide technical support, you can consult sales staff when purchasing products.
